Fuchiqueira is born
A Fuchiqueira is an afternoon filled with creativity, innovation, and exploration. It’s a time for intergenerational knowledge sharing through a variety of workshops from traditional knowledge to Tech one. This event embodies the spirit of invention and natural exploration, encouraging participants to engage in trial and error in a supportive environment.

Culture Moves Europe Residency
As a proud partner of Culture Moves Europe Programme , we hosted five exceptional residencies featuring talented individuals from Germany, Belgium, and Poland. These creative minds have converged at Anceu Coliving to collaborate, innovate, and inspire one another.
Galicia Ilustrada Residency by Cami
Cam’s art serves as a portal to worlds brimming with wonder, magic, and a dash of the unexpected. Guided by her boundless imagination, she crafts spaces that blend figurative and abstract elements. During her time in Anceu, Cam immersed herself in the local culture, conducting interviews with villagers to uncover beliefs, traditions, history, and native flora. This rich tapestry of information inspired her to create three distinctive pieces of art, now proudly installed along the paths of Anceu. In a heartwarming collaboration with the village children, Cam also painted interactive games in the main square, bringing joy and playfulness to the community’s shared spaces.

Upcycling and Sustainability Advocate
Lotte has mastered the art of upcycling, breathing new life into discarded fabrics, clothes, and textiles. With sustainability at the core of her practice, Lotte ingeniously transforms materials once considered waste into objects of beauty and purpose. During her residency, she engaged deeply with local artists, interviewing tattoo artist Carlos, photographer Carlos, weaver Rosario, and painter Emilia to gain fresh perspectives on creativity. Lotte also hosted afternoon sessions exploring the essence of creativity with villagers, introducing artistic techniques like gel plate printing. Her final piece, a textile artwork, will encapsulate the inspiration drawn from these rich interactions. Some videos here.
Mery: Where Art Meets Nature
A graduate of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, this left-handed creative sees beauty in nature and the extraordinary aspects of everyday life. As the founder of Ja Mery Studio, Mery is passionate about making a difference, creating captivating spaces, translating ideas into visuals, and embracing both grand and small adventures. She collects memories from the people she meets, the sounds she hears, the sights she encounters, and the conversations she engages in, all while maintaining an aesthetic of simplicity and beauty. For her residency project, Mery embarked on an inner journey to discover the local flora. Gathering knowledge from villagers about native plants, she created an installation that beautifully showcases the botanical richness of the area.

ReFrame Cam project
Our resident Ovi Hentea from Romania, developped the project ReFrame Cam sponsored by Siteground. In this residency, we installed capture points equipped with 3D-printed mobile phone holders. People from the village can take photos and upload them to a server we’ve configured using QR codes very easily. This way, we can record and monitor changes in nature, such as the growth of our beloved deciduous trees, fires, invasive species, path restoration, and the impact of the different projects we develop with the community.
Square of Anceu
We painted some traditional games in the main square with the kids of the village and the support of the Belgium artist Cam Stass. More info in this link

Anceu Monsters
We created a new attraction in the town square of Anceu: “Anceu Monsters”! It’s an augmented reality game where you can search for virtual monsters throughout the square. It was created by Aksel and Adeleine Lefebvre, two software developers who came to the coliving this last summer from France as part of Rural Hackers residency programme.
Ana and Carla, Agus’s nieces, made the explanatory video about it. Here more info.
We love that young people can discover new technologies by gamifying their village, combining fun with the enjoyment of nature
Anceu Fest IV Edition
In its fourth edition, Anceu Fest evolved into a major event. We secured financial support from the neighborhood association and the regional government. This year, we featured the flamenco duo. We also had the pandereteiras from Arcade (Tudoten) with the support of Marcelo Dobode, enabling us to dance to traditional tunes. The event included a jazz performance from the Pontevedra Jazz Seminar. We had a fascinating act by Skandarani, a group originating from Alexandria, and concluded with our usual DJs Marcos and Granero. The neighborhood association helped by cooking chorizo sandwiches. Our artists from the Culture Moves Europe program decorated the venue with materials provided by our friend Tia Ni.
The highlights were numerous: a large number of children enjoying the day, a sense of community and conviviality, and the presence of the WordPress community from Pontevedra, who spent the day with us.

We did exchange program with Prostor
We sent our college Laura thanks to our alliance with European Creative Hubs Network, Prostor in Croatia. She is Galician artist who gave a workshop to learn how to draw with dots and to develop new artistic works.
In the framework of the Hubs Alliance programme, she was there to learn from Prostor cultural management and contribute to our mission of empowering rural communities through creative and innovative projects.
We participate in our 2nd Do Action Hackaton
We participated in the DO_Action event by WordPress Pontevedra where volunteers come together to help NGOs create or enhance their websites in just one day. This time, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Epa Association, an association that promotes social and cultural well-being through education, art, and civic participation in rural areas.

We went to our first WordCamp Europe
We went in Turin to WordCamp Europe, the largest WordPress event with over 2,584 participants. We were with our friends from Siteground and Automattic, two of our main sponsors. Also with the team of WordPress Pontevedra where we could truly feel the pure essence of open source philosophy.
We participate in the annual events of ECHN
We traveled to Malmö and Bologna to engage with one of our inspiring networks, the European Creative Hubs Network. Each year, all the hubs gather in a different country to exchange ideas, perspectives, and foster friendships, sparking new collaborations. These meetings are crucial as they rejuvenate us with fresh energy and innovative ideas, keeping our enthusiasm high and our projects vibrant!

We did our first talk at Galicia Maker Fair
Rural Hackers had the opportunity to participate in an talk about the opportunities and challenges of rural areas in the digital age in Maker Faire Galicia, the biggest event of the region on makers philosophy.

We were at the VII Forum on Cultures and Ruralities of the Ministry of Culture. We are loaded with new friendships and learnings. Link to the experience here.

We co organized the Green Misions
Thanks to the coordination with the Forest Association we participated in the cleaning of the Anceu forest. We removed eucalyptus that were sprouting again in an area cleared of eucalyptus two years ago to regenerate and plant a forest of deciduous trees.
We helped clean a traditional path to recover a historic trail, adding stones and drainage for the water. More info here.
TecnoArranxo project is born
Our team member Iván launched an initiative called TecnoArranxo, dedicated to giving a second life to computer equipment by repairing and configuring them, and then donating them to those in need of a computer at home.
We are also immensely grateful to Revertia, who generously donated 10 laptops to support our cause and has become a key collaborator in this project. Additionally, we must thank Cangas local government, which from day one has supported this initiative providing facilities for a collection point and promoting this project.

We got a vinyl cutter machine and tools for the maker space
We’ve acquired our first vinyl cutter machine, which has significantly enhanced our ability to create custom signage. Specifically, we’ve improved the signs along our paths for our Pegadas do Recordo project.
We’ve expanded our equipment collection. We now have a heat press machine, inspired by the Precious Plastic project, which allows us to create new materials from recycled plastics. We’ve also acquired a pin-making machine, adding a fun and creative option for our community to learn and create their own custom pins.
We facilitated Fixar project
The Fixar program nurtures connections with rural life in Galicia, bringing together locals who have recently settled in the countryside, already live there, or are planning a transition.
Through immersive coliving experience at Anceu Coliving 20 participants had the chance to collaborate, share insights, and explore ways to launch their projects in rural areas.
We worked together within the network as mentors and facilitators.

Mentors at Territorio Emprende
We worked as mentors from Territorio Emprende, an initiative that connects projects, ideas, and talent in rural Galicia. During this project, we shared our perspectives to inspire and be inspired, creating a space for mutual learning where every idea adds value and each individual contributes something unique. The future of our region is built with brave ideas and dedicated people.
In collaboration with Fundación Paideia and EOI School, who lead this project, we were working to strengthen rural Galicia through social innovation and collaborative commitment.
We joined Reset Network
Rural Hackers has joined Rreset Network, a European platform dedicated to advancing transformative projects in cultural development.
This opportunity allows us to continue working towards our mission of highlighting the role of rural areas in Europe’s cultural landscape while creating meaningful connections between tradition, creativity, and modernity.
